My builder.config.json is {
“command”: “npm run dev”,
“serverUrl”: “[https://localhost:4444](https://localhost:4444)”
}
And I use [builder.io](http://builder.io) plugin in vscode, the service is running well in https, but why [builder.io](http://builder.io) must launch server use http not https, and it show me the message that “Seems like the configured
local server ([http://localhost:4444/](http://localhost:4444/)) is not responding.”

Hi AlexLi,

The issue you’re seeing—[Builder.io](http://Builder.io) trying to load `http://localhost:4444` instead of `https://localhost:4444` despite your config—happens because the `builder.config.json` currently only allows you to specify the host and port, not the protocol.

Builder’s Devtools assumes the local server runs over HTTP by default. It does not currently infer the protocol from your `serverUrl` in `builder.config.json`.

Thanks,

[Builder.io](http://Builder.io) VS Code plugin **only checks `http://`** , not `https://`, when testing your `serverUrl`. That’s why it says “not responding” even though your HTTPS server works. Solution: run your local dev server on **HTTP** or use a local proxy like `ngrok` if you must test HTTPS.
