**What are you trying to accomplish**  
_I want to create an image carousel that uses thumbnails instead of dots under it. I’m trying to do so using the existing carousel component without having to make a technical request for a new component to our internal development team. I would also be fine if there was a way to make an image a “button” to select the create slide ID outside of the carousel itself if possible._

Hi Casey​,

I see that you’re using a custom carousel component. I recommend making any changes directly within the custom component itself, rather than using the editor features.

Modifying custom components through the default editor can be quite complex and may lead to unintended issues. Editing the custom code directly will be much more straightforward and likely only require minimal adjustments.
