Error message in Figma Plugin

While using the figma plugin, I get this error after a prompt:
{Status 500 : You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, read the docs: https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/error-codes/api-errors."}

The openai account liked is paid and has never been used.

What is the reason for the error?

Hello @sobopla,

The error message you’re encountering originates from OpenAI, and it indicates that you’ve reached your maximum monthly spend, which is a hard limit for API usage. Essentially, this means you’ve utilized all the allocated credits or units included in your plan, and you’ve reached the limit for your billing cycle to use the OpenAI API.

Since our Builder Figma plugin relies on OpenAI to generate templates, it’s important to note that your OpenAI account must be registered with the same email address that you’re using with our plugin.

To address this issue, I recommend checking your OpenAI billing to understand your current usage and whether there are any billing-related issues that need attention.

Like I said there is no usage.

Hello @sobopla,

Since you mentioned that your OpenAI account is paid and has not been used, it’s possible that this issue is related to account settings or a misconfiguration. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

  1. Review Billing Information: Make sure your billing information is up-to-date and there are no issues with the payment method.
  2. API Key Verification: Ensure that the correct API key is being used in the Builder.io Figma plugin. Sometimes, an incorrect or outdated API key can lead to such errors.
  3. Plugin Configuration: Double-check the configuration settings of the Builder.io Figma plugin to make sure it is properly set up to use your OpenAI account.

If still not resolved, try removing the plugin and re-installing it, that could possibly fix the issue.

Step 1 and 2 are clear. What is the difference between 2 and 3? There are no ‘configuration settings’ in the Builder.io plugin.

Regarding the last point. There is no way to ‘remove a plugin’ from figma and re-install it.

Hello @sobopla,

We’ve thoroughly investigated, but we’re currently unable to reproduce the reported issue on our end using the paid version of OpenAI. Additionally, no other users have reported encountering the same problem.

In light of this, we recommend reaching out to OpenAI support for personalized assistance. Meanwhile, our team will continue to investigate this matter further.

Thanks,

I’ll check that when I meet with you team next week. Your product should account for all the errors the OpenAI API can provide.

Hello @sobopla,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s valuable to us. I want to inform you that our Figma plugin is currently in the BETA phase, and we are actively working on improving it. Rest assured, you can expect comprehensive handling of all OpenAI errors in the near future.

If you have any specific concerns or suggestions, feel free to let us know. We appreciate your patience and support.

Thanks!

If you have the OpenAI API key to coordinate Builder.io to OpenAI comms,
why do you require the same email addresses to be used??

We’ve separated roles by email, so your configuration won’t work for us!
