Hello , the recent changes in the modern UI and the overall Publish / Fusion sapces changes has some of us wondering wether the settings we usually work with left or are not available because in beta:
Publish Space :
I have been using builder.io for a while But I have trouble adjusting my process to the new updates lately for my new projects. I think these elements mentioned above should still be available for devs to have enough flexibility to develop as they have if going back and forth between codebase and UI, with hard coding when necessary and visual coding - both options helping gain time .
Hello @Ecommfox
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the recent updates to the Builder.io platform—especially around the new Modern UI and Fusion/Publish space experiences. We truly appreciate your feedback and understand how these changes might affect your workflow.
Here’s a quick summary and clarification on the points you mentioned:
Publish Space (Modern UI - Beta)
-
Animations Missing:
Currently, the “Animations” panel is not available in the Modern UI. However, animations can still be applied using the AI Generate option, which supports animation prompts.
-
API/Data Integration Missing:
You’re right—data models are not supported yet in Modern UI. That said, you can still use the AI Generate option to connect external data sources. More robust API/data integration support is in the works.
-
“Connect Data” Option Missing:
This feature is also temporarily unavailable in the Modern UI while we iterate. You can still achieve data-driven UI with custom components or by switching back to the Classic UI where applicable.
Dashboard Changes (Org/Environment Creation):
The ability to create new organizations directly from the dashboard has been removed. New orgs can now be created by signing up again with a different email or workspace context.
Spaces:
-
GitHub Pushes Only First Commit:
We haven’t seen any known issues with GitHub integrations limiting commits. Multiple pushes should work as expected. If this persists, feel free to share logs or error messages so we can investigate further.
-
Unable to Export Code:
Code export may not be available depending on the setup or type of space (Fusion or Publish). Currently you should be able to download code using Fusion space.
Is It Still Possible to Start from Scratch and Add Elements Visually?
Absolutely. Builder continues to support building from scratch using both visual editing and custom code. You can still combine visual development with code overrides to suit your workflow.
We completely understand how adjusting to the new experience can be a challenge—especially if you’ve been using Builder.io for a while. Our aim is to offer flexibility to developers who prefer switching between hard-coded and visual editing, and we’re actively working to bring feature parity to the Modern UI.
That said, you can still switch to Classic UI from content options.
Thanks,
